Our 2013 Conservation Biology Class Project

Hi there! We are a group of 12 undergraduate and graduate students from Memorial University of Newfoundland. For our final conservation biology class project, we addressed two current issues facing Pippy Park in St. John's, NL:

1) Pet waste in the park exists at high levels in some areas. We wanted to know the extent of the problem and if any water contamination was occurring

2) Motorized vehicles are frequently observed on park land. We were interested in quantifying any damage that may be occurring as a result of this activity

During February and March, 2013, we surveyed and sampled within Pippy Park to answer some pertinent questions about the impacts of human activities in an urban park.
